Isn’t it funny how the school system, and most adults, have an aversion to talking about sex? That they can talk about death just fine, but won’t tell you how babies are made? It’s weird how society regards sex as bad, and a topic that should be left alone, but speaking about murder or death is fine to talk about. Who decided that sex was something to be ashamed of? And who decided to put so much pressure on it?
I know people are touchy on it, because it’s how you get pregnant. But why is it that if you’re having safe sex, you’re still being frowned upon. Why is no one talking about how to have safe sex, and then getting angry about teenage pregnancy? Make up your mind, would you rather that they have sex safely, or get pregnant? If you’re saying you don’t want sex at all, you’re screwed, welcome to the 21st century.
And here’s my favorite, in school, they censor out anything that even has a little suggestive matter. But they are fine to read murder novels that sometimes even have a little detail. Why is it that sex is being regarded as worse than death? People often are strongly against premarital sex. This also means queers are out of luck right now. So it makes a lot of sense to automatically get angry when someone gets the Gardisil (Sorry for spelling) shots, you think, “sex is bad. She must be a slut.” But no one says anything about how it saves a life. Sex is worse than death, makes total sense doesn’t it?
Funny enough, I am reminded of Mean Girls, where the gym teacher is talking to them about sex. Sadly, I don’t think we’re far off from it. There are different sequences one of which is, “If you have sex, you will get pregnant, and you will die.”
Kind of amazing quote I think so.
Riot apologizes for her absence, school started, and there’s a whole lot of ignorance to be fought. (My favorite so far is that the end of the world is coming in the next four years)
