Introducing…ME!

Hey, this is my blog about my everyday life. Just call me Riot. This is about being a bisexual feminist, yes, even at 13. I know, some may be thinking, “she’s far too young to know her sexuality.” If you’re one of them, how do you know you’re straight? Because it’s one of those things you just know. Others may be saying, “It’s just a rebellious thing, just a phase, she’ll get over it.” Every day I hear this hurtful ignorance. Or someone asking me if I’m gay, I deny it, because growing up in my small town in an extremely conservative state can be hell for someone different.

Wow, a bisexual feminist at 13. That’s cool. It’s nice to know that people this young are getting into serious social issues.

Just for the sake of queerness, I came out when I was 15, in August. :)

And I claimed myself a feminist when I was 17 (not really sure what month, though).

Don’t worry – I’m 22 and I only get those comments once a week now. I’m hoping to have them down to once a month by the time I’m 50.

And don’t even suggest that sexuality might change over time. Because if they put you in a particular box, you’re in there forever.

I suggest volunteering. Somewhere with groovy people. Life became much brighter for me when I met my first radical feminist lesbian polygamous trans man.

I’m way impressed by how self-actualized you are at a young age. Knowing that you’re a feminist AND bisexual… that’s awesome! Bisexuality for me is like my feminism… I’ve always been hesitant to claim both words to my identity but only recently (in my mid 20s) have begun to associate myself as feminist, even though i’ve always had the inclinations… i’m under a pseudonym as well, but i am not entirely ‘out’ as bisexual in real life. been in a heterosexual relationship for 4 1/2 years and don’t know if being out really applies? anyway, i do have to say that i’ve known from a young age that i probably was bisexual (i always questioned it having not had the experiences to *really* know), because i wondered about it in gradeschool and wanted to know what word described someone attracted to both genders… good luck with your new blog!
